Hello everyone!

I want to thank everyone who donated to the Move to Higher Ground Project in order to receive the Higher Ground Twilght Fanzine. We raised over $200 and I'm so happy. For everyone who didn't get a chance to donate due to low funds, we decided to make the zine free!

If you are capable of donating, please do so. The Move to Higher Ground Project is very important. Stephenie Meyer used elements of the real Quileute legends and traditions while creating the Twilight Saga and has not publicly donated to their cause. Right now, the entire community is in an unsafe area prone to flooding and natural disasters. They are currently trying to raise money to move to a safer area and their first priority is moving their school. Without the school, many of their traditions would be lost since it is the only school in the world teaching the Quileute language. This is the link leading you directly to their donation page: https://mthg.org/get-involved/

To get access to the zine here is the link. Feel free to share this link with any friends or fellow Twilight fans and encourage others to donate to the MTHG Project.

So I do live in Texas and I barely got power back. It’s been so chilly and I’ve been wearing my coat for days on end. The good thing is it’s been easy for me to read without the distractions of electricity. So that’s been fun. I made a time lapse of myself weaving a bookmark and I’m linking it here

Anyway, please make sure you donate to the Move to Higher Ground Project if you’d like a copy of the digital Twilight fanzine I helped put together. Here’s a post detailing how to get access: link

Hey guys,

I am the co-runner of a Twilight themed charity fanzine. It was super exciting (and exhausting) to put together. We posted about the zine on our tumblr page here if you'd like to take a gander.

The charity is for the Move to Higher Ground project which was put together by the real Quileute people that were featured in the Twilight books. Right now their school is in a dangerous flood zone and they are currently accepting donations to move their school to a safe place.

Whether or not you would like a copy of the zine, please consider donating here: https://mthg.org/

Sometimes the muse strikes right and I never thought I'd continue my fic Untouched, I kind of have a story in mind. I want to expand on it and actually flesh it out before I get too ahead of myself.

I finally got my hands on a bootleg copy, but I have my doubts over whether or not it's the real deal. This book has been in the works for 10 years and there is one particular scene in the book that makes me think its a fake. I want to investigate one of these days and see a real copy of it at a bookstore and compare it to my version.

So far though, the first 13 chapters that were leaked online stayed exactly the way they were. I remember staying up many nights reading those leaked chapters over and over again on Smeyer's website. I'm so glad I didn't pay for my copy. Would've annoyed me to have to pay for only half of a book.

I'm still not finished with it, but I know the gist and I know what happens, but I'm still looking forward to the ending of this supposed authentic bootleg.

I haven't ranted about Midnight Sun at all! I can't believe just a few months ago I made this post lamenting the fact that Stephenie Meyer will never have time to finish Edward's perspective on Twilight and she just announces it a few weeks ago. It's a bit pricey but I cannot wait to read it. I remember reading the leaked first 12 chapters online and wishing she'd just write the rest.  And my wish has been granted.

I'm going to wait for it to be released either on the kindle or maybe paperback. I wish I hadn't been going through my "I have to be grown up" phase in eighth grade and gotten rid of all my copies of the Twilight series. I'll probably just download it to my kindle. That's where I keep Life and Death anyway.

I truly believe this book would have been a cult classic on its own. It has a really interesting take on how we, as an audience, perceive gender and misogyny. The differences Smeyer made in particular seem to highlight how our own biases can manifest in seemingly pervasive and almost unperceivable ways.

Anyway, I recommend everyone read it. It's really interesting.

"Shut up about Twilight"
I will not.

Why do I keep re-reading Life and Death? The concept of it would have never appealed to me, but it is wild that we now have official gender-bent character's names.

Stephenie said she wanted to do something special for the 10th anniversary but didn't have enough time to finish Midnight Sun. I have a sneaking suspicion she'll never have the time for it. But I devoured it in one night nonetheless. It was just as captivating as Twilight was the first time I read it, and I hated myself for it. The book is pure pander. Meyer said she wrote this book as an address to all the feminists claiming Twilight was anti-feminist (it isn't anti-feminist per say but it isn't pro-feminist either). But Life and Death actually proves that statement true. She made all of the male characters taller than the female ones even if they originally weren't which is a small peeve of mine. But there are a million tiny things that end up adding up into a mess. A gripping and engaging mess of quasi-feminism but still a mess. And I'm going to continue reading it because I love mess.

The first draft of a short ficlet I wrote for the Twilight gift exchange on tumblr for witchyangela (link to pillowfort)

It was raining as it usually did. The raindrops were so cold, they felt as if they were biting at Angela’s skin. She made a mental note to herself to make a heating potion for herself later on that day.

Jared x Bella Headcanons as requested by anon

  • Jared doesn’t really know Bella until one day Jacob invites her to his dad’s annual barbecue where Bella and Jared hit it off
  • Bella gives him her phone number and he debates whether or not she really liked him or was pitying him so he ends up not calling for two whole days
  • They’re both awkward messes so when Jared explains his dilemma Bella laughs and says she’s glad they have something in common
  • Bella asks him to go to the Sadie Hawkins dance at school and everyone at Forks is intrigued by Bella’s cute date
  • Jared fits in really well with Bella’s friend group. He tells the funniest jokes and is always coming up with cute wholesome puns.
  • Bella always finds it endearing that he cannot for the life of him tell a joke without cracking up first. Sometimes he even does a full blown snort and it makes Bella’s heart melt.
  • He always makes bets with Bella when they play bridge with his parents and Charlie (spoilers: he always makes sure Bella’s team wins whether or not he’s on it)
  • Even when he places bets with cash value, Bella always refuses the money
  • Instead Jared will strike a deal and say “well instead of giving you $10 how about I give you ten kisses”
  • Bella hardly ever loses, but when she does she uses the same kiss to dollar ratio

Bella and Jared ♥

Jasper and Bella Headcanons as requested by anon ♥
(Keep in mind my personal HC for Jasper that he was a Black free man who was coerced into fighting for the confederacy until he could escape to the north, only to be psychologically enslaved by Maria before breaking free)

  • It starts out with Edward becoming intrigued by Bella and his inability to read her mind
  • Of course, upon bringing her home to meet his family, Edward notices Jasper’s ability to pick up on how she’s feeling
  • Seeing as how Edward cannot pick up on any subtleties without reading someone’s mind, he encourages Jasper to get to know Bella
  • These visits were always supervised and awkward
  • Bella pointed out how awkwardly they were thrust together into this situation neither one of them wanted to be apart of
  • Jasper finds her humanity and lack of self preservation amusing and finds he actually enjoys spending time in her company
  • They can both easily silently communicate and are both relatively taciturn in their own ways
  • Eventually they begin to mimic one another’s laughs and mirror each other’s smiles
  • Bella always asks historical questions and how they personally affect Jasper
  • Jasper always downplayed his experiences both negative and positive because he was embarrassed by all the attention
  • Bella could always see through his bullshit and called him out on it
  • Jasper always said he hated that she could tell, but he’d give himself away with a slight half smile
  • After the dreaded 18th birthday party fiasco Bella is heartbroken by Edward breaking up with her for her safety
  • Encouraged by their friendship, Jasper reaches out to Bella through email to make amends
  • Bella demands to see Jasper face-to-face for her to accept his apology
  • Upon arriving Bella lets Jasper know that he was already forgiven, she just misses Edward and the rest of the Cullens
  • Jasper offers to stay in Forks as part of his penance
  • Bella and he grow closer but Jasper keeps his distance physically
  • After graduating high school with a dual associates degree, Bella asks Jasper to change her into a vampire so that they can be in one another’s presence without Bella’s life constantly at risk
  • Jasper tells her that he isn’t sure he could resist the temptation of her blood, but does it anyway because he knows how much Bella wants this life

I never got a chance to talk about going to the movie theater and seeing Twilight on the big screen for the first time in ten years. I still felt that childish joy and felt as if I had been transported back to my eleven-year-old self. It was so thrilling to be able to experience my first time seeing one of my favorite franchises all over again.

One of the best parts was watching Jackson Rathbone and Catherine Hardwicke reminisce about making that film. They didn't even know how big of a hit it was going to be and how it would continue to have such an impact on people's lives.

Recently I started posting Twilight Saga quizzes on Buzzfeed, and it was really fun at first. But then it started feeling more like a job. The Buzzfeed staff also has a way of editing your quizzes as to not seem "controversial" but that's a discussion for another day.

All in all, I'm glad I'm not the only person still fawning over all those Twilight characters.
