Life and Death
Why do I keep re-reading Life and Death? The concept of it would have never appealed to me, but it is wild that we now have official gender-bent character's names.
Stephenie said she wanted to do something special for the 10th anniversary but didn't have enough time to finish Midnight Sun.I have a sneaking suspicion she'll never have the time for it. But I devoured it in one night nonetheless. It was just as captivating as Twilight was the first time I read it, and I hated myself for it. The book is pure pander. Meyer said she wrote this book as an address to all the feminists claiming Twilight was anti-feminist (it isn't anti-feminist per say but it isn't pro-feminist either). But Life and Death actually proves that statement true. She made all of the male characters taller than the female ones even if they originally weren't which is a small peeve of mine. But there are a million tiny things that end up adding up into a mess. A gripping and engaging mess of quasi-feminism but still a mess. And I'm going to continue reading it because I love mess.
